The Iowa AP Index

The Top 50 AP Schools In Iowa

About Us

Each year since 2005, The Belin-Blank International Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development–housed within The University of Iowa’s College of Education–has released the Iowa AP Index to recognize the Top 50 Iowa accredited high schools for providing Advanced Placement opportunities to Iowa’s high school students.

The Iowa AP Index is modeled after the Challenge Index created by Jay Mathews of the Washington Post. We thank Mr. Mathews for granting us permission to modify his Challenge Index.

The mission of the Belin-Blank Center is to empower and serve the gifted community through exemplary leadership in programs, research, and advocacy. The annual presentation of the Iowa AP Index raises awareness of college-level learning opportunities available to Iowa students.
